Experts at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) are examining a femur bone, which was exhumed on August 28 from Gagode Khud at Pen, to establish if it was of Sheena Bora, who was allegedly murdered by her mother Indrani Mukerjea. They said the report would be ready by Saturday.
The laboratory has also received blood samples of Indrani and Mikhail Bora, Sheena’s younger brother from Indrani’s first partner Siddharth Das. The police said they are also going to call Das, who is based in Kolkata, to Mumbai within 10 days and will collect his blood sample to conduct a paternity test.

Das on Tuesday came out for the first time before the media in Kolkata and spoke about his relationship with Indrani.
The probe into the murder case recently saw an additional charge of attempt to murder being slapped against Indrani after evidence emerged that Mikhail was also going to be killed the same day his sister Sheena was killed on April 24, 2012. Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyam Rai are the three accused in the murder case who are currently in the custody of Mumbai Police.
“We normally conduct the tests twice to rule out any errors in DNA profiling. By Saturday, we should be able to confirm to the police whether the skeletal remains indeed belong to Sheena,” the official said.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Police have called for questioning Vidhie Mukerjea, daughter of co-accused Sanjeev Khanna and Indrani who was later adopted by Indrani’s current husband Peter Mukerjea.
“Khanna has claimed that he came to Mumbai in April 2012 to meet Vidhie and not to participate in any murder plan. We will be asking Vidhie whether he contacted her, whether she was aware of his arrival and whether she was in Mumbai at the time,” said a senior police officer. Police said they will also crosscheck Vidhie’s passport to see whether the claims match.
Besides the three accused, the police have so far questioned Sheena’s brother Mikhail and her fiance Rahul Mukerjea (Peter Mukerjea’s son from an earlier marriage) in the murder probe. Peter Mukerjea’s former wife Shabnam, from whose house in Dehradun the police had found Sheena’s passport, was also questioned.
On Monday, police conducted a ‘rehearsal’ to verify Mikhail Bora’s claim that his mother Indrani planned to kill him after his sister’s murder and had brought a suitcase to dump his body. “We conducted a rehearsal, during which we asked a constable, of the same height and build as Mikhail, to get inside the suitcase. He was able to fit in it,” said another officer.
Police have also written to Facebook authorities, asking for details and history of the profiles of Sanjeev Khanna and Indrani to know more about their interactions and locations over the last three to four years.
