RJD, JD(U) and Congress today observed bandh in Gaya to protest against shopkeepers indulging in scuffle with RJD MLA Surendra Yadav in which he was injured after hot cooking oil was thrown at him.

Major markets were closed during the bandh and very few vehicles were on the road.

Workers of the RJD, JD(U) and Congress took out procession in the town in support of the bandh.

JD(U) District President Abhay Kushwaha told PTI that the bandh was to protest manhandling of a senior legislator by shopkeepers on Sunday night and to emphasise the point that such incident do not recur.

Kushwaha, however, said they have no complaint with the district administration.

Senior Superintendent of Police Nishant Tiwari has removed three police bodyguards of Surendra Yadav, fifth term RJD MLA from Belaganj in Gaya district, locked in fight with the shopkeepers in Tekari road under Kotwali police station.

Owner of noted sweet shop “Sri Ram Tilkut”, Dhiraj Kumar Keshri involved in scuffle has been arrested and sent to jail.

The incident happened on December 14 night when the bodyguards of the MLA from Belaganj in Gaya district allegedly beat up a seller of ’tilkut’ (sweets) in Tekari Road for delay in handing over the sweet to the MLA.

Local shop keepers gathered in support of the ’tilkut’ seller and beat up the MLA. Some of them even threw boiling cooking oil on him, the SSP said.

The MLA, is still admitted at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital with serious burn injuries.

Gaya City SP Rakesh Kumar said cases had been registered from both sides and the police had been trying to get at the truth.

Surendra Yadav has served as minister in RJD governments of Lalu Prasad as well as Rabri Devi.

Meanwhile, traders are holding meeting under banner of district chamber of commerce in support of the shopkeepers.

The MLA should be sacked first and prosecuted for setting goons - called bodyguards-for roughing up the shop keeper. Why are the bodyguards not under arrest and in jail ? Will the SP who has given a press conference with a flourish of having sent the shopkeeper to jail, explain ? Why no action against those who started the fight?

Bhai at least read the article in full.It is against the shopkeepers because they beat up the RJD MLA who was doing goonda gardi with them.Agitation against the BJP did not work so now these politicians are agitating directly with the public. Wait and watch as their secularism falls apart as they lose more and more seats.
