The Election Commission of India (ECI) imposed restrictions on printing and publishing election pamphlets and posters,and directed all the district magistrates to issue guidelines to printing houses,political party representatives,candidates and polling agents regarding the new restriction. Chief Electoral Officer Narinder Chauhan on Thursday ordered immediate removal of all hoardings put up by the state and central governments in the state.
NCP not to ally with Cong in HP polls: Patel
Vadodara: The NCP will put up its own candidates and not ally with the Congress in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections due to be held next month,Union Minister Praful Patel has said. Our party will contest this election (in Himachal Pradesh) on its own strength and will not ally with the Congress, Patel said at the NCPs fifth national convention here.
Five file nominations on second day
Shimla: Five candidates,including four independents,filed their nominations for Himachal Pradesh Assembly polls on Thursday,taking the total number of nominations to seven. HLPs Naveen Dhiman filed nomination from Jaswan Pragpur,while independent candidates Amin Chand and Naresh Pal filed their papers from Sujanpur and Dharamshala,respectively.
Revolt in BJP over ticket distribution
Shimla: The BJP is faced with a chain of revolt over distribution of ticket,especially in the second list of 12 candidates released on Wednesday. Former minister and sitting MLA from Sundernagar,Roop Singh Thakur,has now set a three-day deadline for the party to change the nominee and allot him ticket from the constituency or face rebellion.
