About 300 members of All Mechanised Boat Owners Association staged a demonstration in this coastal town on Saturday, demanding release of its fishermen arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy over the last two years as well as the release of their boats. They also demanded release of five fishermen arrested on ‘fake’ drug charges in 2012.

Association members alleged government had not made any arrangements to bring back the boats released by courts in Sri Lanka and demanded that steps be taken expeditiously in this regard.
