With Thodo ground — where Patanjli Yogpeeth Trust was scheduled to hold a function on Wednesday — being waterlogged following heavy rains, yoga guru Baba Ramdev led his followers to Solan’s Sanatan Dharamsabha Hall where he pinned his hopes on the judiciary to see to it that his plan to set up a yoga complex at Sadhupul is fulfilled.

At the function,he refuted charges about the Trust’s plans to run a commercial venture at the land, which now has been taken over by the Congress government after it cancelled the lease signed by earlier BJP regime. With the government taking over the land, the Trust had to book the Thodo ground for Ramdev’s rally on February 27.

Accompanied by Archarya Balkrishan,Ramdev slammed Congress president Sonia Gandhi for allegedly forcing the Himachal government to take over land allotted to him for a social cause. However, sparing Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, whom he described as a “good soul”,he said: “The chief minister had also attended a yoga camp when I came to Himachal.”

Speaking at the function,Balkrishan asked which other NGO or Trust that has got land in Himachal Pradesh had invested Rs 11 crore. “Only Patanjli Yogapeeth has completed phase one and two more phases were in the pipeline to turn the Sadhupul land into a place of global importance,” he said.

“The Indira Holiday Home Trust (the land earlier belonged to it) was not doing any work at the land. It was because of these reasons the land was given to Patanjli Yogapeeth. But the state government has not followed due legal process to take over the land… We have faith in the judiciary.”
