A 19-year-old trainee at Bosch Limited in Nashik died on Monday morning, hours after she allegedly attempted suicide, police said. Ten of her classmates, who were also working as trainees, were arrested on Tuesday as the suicide note left by the girl accused them of ragging her.

Police said Pranali Rahane was in the third year of a vocational course at technology major Bosch Limited, whose plant is located in Satpur,Nashik. She lived with her family in Nashik.

On Sunday evening, while her parents were out,Pranali locked herself in her room and allegedly slashed her wrists, the police said. When that failed to kill her,she allegedly hanged herself from the ceiling fan using a dupatta, said the police. She was found in a semi-conscious state by her father some time later.

Pranali’s father Pradeep,a plumber, said his daughter had told him about the ragging. “Pranali was recently selected to study at Bosch’s headquarters in Germany. A few of her classmates who failed to clear the test would occasionally rag her,” police said.

After finding the note left by Pranali, the police arrested 10 of her classmates. They have been booked under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC and Section 4 of the Maharashtra Ragging Act and remanded in police custody till September 7.
