PM Narendra Modi puts off much-awaited Varanasi visit

UP Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan confirmed the news. However, the new dates of the PM's visit has not been announced.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has postponed his two-day visit to Varanasi starting October 14. It was supposed to be Modi’s first visit to his Lok Sabha constituency as Prime Minister.

UP Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan confirmed the news. However, the new dates of the PM’s visit has not been announced.

Shiv Kumar Pathak, in-charge of Modi’s public relation office in Varanasi, told The Indian Express that he received information from
Prime Minister’s Office of Modi postponing his visit because of cyclone Hudhud that made a landfall in the east coast of the country on Sunday evening.

Modi was scheduled to address students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and dedicate university’s new trauma centre to public.
