Union Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar said on Saturday that Panchayati Raj system has received a setback in Madhya Pradesh under the BJP rule.
“The Panchayati Raj system has received a setback since the BJP came to power in the state five years back,” Aiyar told reporters in Bhopal.
He said that the system made great advancements during the Congress regime in which the then Chief Minister Digvijay Singh worked hard for the people’s empowerment.
“That time,Singh ran the Panchayati Raj system, now the bureaucracy under BJP rule is managing the show,” he said. The state government should make serious efforts to complete the works of Panchayati Raj,he added.
