Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday alleged that the Congress leadership was vitiating the peaceful atmosphere in the state as it was frustrated of being out of power. He also warned that “nefarious designs” of the Congress could trigger off a situation of unrest and communal tension in the state, which could be further exploited by Pakistan.

“Congress has a habit of stirring up religious sentiments and spitting venom of hatred and communal frenzy by issuing provocative statements just to malign the image of the SAD-BJP alliance, which is committed to preserve the hard-earned peace and harmony in Punjab,” Badal told mediapersons on the sidelines of the Vikas Rally organised by the BJP in Sujanpur.

“The Congress was bent upon disturbing peace by raising the bogey of terrorism… Congressmen are portraying that our government wants to revive militancy… they are sadly mistaken as the clear mandate given by the people in the last Assembly elections was a testimony to our firm commitment to maintain peace and harmony,” Badal said, adding that Punjab was the only peaceful state in the country.

“Such nefarious designs can trigger off a situation of unrest and communal tension, which could be further exploited by our hostile neighbour Pakistan, thereby putting national security in peril,” he said.
