On Kanshiram death anniversary,Mayawati unveils projects worth Rs 6,035 cr

Mayawati unveiled 484 development projects worth Rs 6,035 crore at a programme organised at Kanshiram Smarak Sthal on VIP road.

On the occasion of BSP founder Kanshiram’s fifth death anniversary today,Chief Minister Mayawati unveiled 484 development projects worth Rs 6,035 crore at a programme organised at Kanshiram Smarak Sthal on VIP road.

Apart from top government officials and some ministers,BSP supporters of Lucknow district were invited to pay tribute to Kanshiram.

Mayawati reached Kanshiram memorial around 10.30 am. She lit candles near the bronze statue of Kanshiram,erected along with her own statue,inside the building and then offered a floral tribute. She also offered gifts to Buddhist monks who performed the rituals for Kanshiram’s death anniversary.

Mayawati then came out of the building and pressed a button to unveil a large number of foundation/inaugural stones for various development projects. She did not make a speech.

After her departure,BSP coordinator Jugul Kishore invited the BSP workers to enter the memorial building and pay tribute to Kanshiram – founder of BAMCEF (Backward and Minority Community Employee Federation) and DS-4 (Dalit Shoshit Samaj Sangharsh Samiti). Since the BSP had asked all its district units to organise tributes to Kanshiram at their headquarters,BSP MPs and MLAs were not present in Lucknow.

Projects of various departments,which were dedicated to the people,included solid waste management schemes for Kannauj,Rae Bareli,Muzaffarnagar,Kanpur,Agra and Allahabad,worth Rs 4.62 crore,Rs 8.78 crore,Rs 6.57 crore,Rs 56.23 crore,Rs 30.84 crore and Rs 30. 41 crore,respectively.

The projects for which the CM laid foundation stones included river front development,Varanasi (Rs 27.28 crore),solid waste management scheme for Badaun (Rs 5.78 crore),Jaunpur (Rs 12.20 crore),Ballia (Rs 6.81 crore),Sambhal (Rs 6.55 crore) and Gorakhpur (Rs 15.63 crore).

Mayawati also formally dedicated several power transmission sub-stations to the people. These included 220 KV sub-station (400 MVA) in sector 129 of Gautambudh Nagar,220 KV sub-station (400 MVA),Bithur in Kanpur Nagar,132 KV sub-station at Dhaurahara in Lakhimpur (20 MVA),132 KV sub-station,Mehadawal in Sant Kabir Nagar (40 MVA) and 132 KV sub-station,Jattari in Aligarh (80 MVA).

According to a press release from the state’s Information and Public Relation Department,all memorials will now be open from 11 am to 9 pm during summer months (March to October) and 11 am to 8 pm during in (November to February).

Prominent guests at today’s programme included BSP national general-secretary Satish Chandra Mishra,PWD minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui,his wife Husna Siddiqui,who is BSP MLC,Urban Development Minister Nakul Dubey,Chief Secretary Anoop Mishra,Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh,Principal Secretary (Home) Kunwar Fateh Bahadur and UP DGP Brij Lal.
