RJD chief Lalu Prasad hosted an Iftar party on Monday which was attended by top leaders of his party as well as the Bihar Congress unit.
While Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was absent as he went to Delhi to attend Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s Iftar party, state JD(U) president Bashistha Narayan Singh and some other leaders from the party were present.
Nitish had earlier clarified that he had informed Lalu that he would not be able to attend the Iftar party.
He said his absence should not be attributed any “political meaning”. Two days ago,
Lalu had attended Nitish’s Iftar
An RJD leader said since Sonia and Lalu’s Iftar parties fell on the same date, Nitish and Lalu had decided that the Chief Minister should attend Sonia’s Iftar party.
“It is the season of brotherhood and the only message is that of communal peace and harmony,” said Lalu. He said Iftar was not an occasion to discuss politics.
Targeting the BJP, Lalu said: “They have nothing to do with either Ram or Rahim and take recourse to religion only for political purpose.” With PTI
