The district administration on Sunday extended night curfew in troubled Kishanganj district of Bihar for another two days in the light of fresh violence on Saturday triggered by rumours.
“(Night) Curfew has been extended by another two days,” District Magistrate Abhishek Kumar Parashar and Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan told reporters here.
Prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC would be in place from 10 pm on Sunday night till 6 am on Monday and from 10 pm Monday till 6 am on Tuesday, they said.
The DM and SP said that people behind spreading rumours to trigger violence have been identified and their properties would be seized as penal action.
One Moghal Hayat has been arrested for spreading rumours Saturday that resulted in fresh violence.
Tension prevailed in Kishanganj since October 6 night when the chopped head of a cow was found near a shrine, provoking people to indulge in violence.
