Nawanshahr gets its 3rd woman DC in a row

With the appointment of the third female Deputy Commissioner (DC) in a row,Nawanshahr district can now truly boast of woman power.

With the appointment of the third female Deputy Commissioner (DC) in a row,Nawanshahr district can now truly boast of woman power. Anindita Mitra was appointed the new DC on Friday.

Earlier,Singh Tanu Kashayap was the DC from July 2,2012 till September 19,2013. Before her,Shruti Singh was the DC from March 19,2010 to June 29,2012. Prior to this,in 2007,Bhawna Garg,who was the first woman DC of the district,remained in the post for over four months.

Mitra is an IAS officer of 2007 batch. Earlier,she was ADC (D) at Patiala. An engineering graduate in computer science,Mitra had also served as SDM,Ropar. She was given warm welcome by various officers of the district police and presented Guard of Honour.

The new DC said that it is a matter of pride that she has got the opportunity to serve the SBS Nagar district,which is known as progressive district of the state. Moreover,many projects and schemes have been allotted to the SBS Nagar on pilot basis and Mitra promised to work on these on priority.

The district has many other woman officers,including SSP Dhanpreet Kaur,SDM,Balachaur,Dr Nayan Jassal,SDM,Nawanshahr,Dr Nidhi Kalotra.
