A variety of issues, including progress in the multi-billion dollar deal for new Rafale fighter jets, the Jaitapur nuclear power plant and a joint development programme for next-generation air defence missile systems, will be discussed during French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius’s visit to India on Monday.
Fabius, who will be the first western foreign minister to meet Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj, is also expected to discuss the security environment in the region, including Iraq crisis.
Sources said the Rafale deal for 126 fighter aircraft is in the final stages and would be discussed . There has been much speculation about the deal, which has been hanging fire for close to two years.
He will leave for Bengaluru on March 5 and undergo naturopathy treatment there for 10 days.
