Till Maharashtra authorities decide whether actor Sanjay Dutt has to be shifted out of Mumbai,he will continue in the ‘anda’ (egg-shaped) cell in the high-security block og Arthur Road Jail. “We will take some more time to take a call. He will not be shifted anywhere in the near future,” said ADGP (prisons) Meera Borwankar.

The 53-year-old actor was brought to the jail on May 16 to serve his remaining sentence in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case. After his surrender ahead of the deadline set by the apex court, there were speculation that he would be shifted to Yerwada Jail in Pune.

The delay in finalising where Dutt will be lodged is because information was still being gathered on the number of convicts, security conditions, inmates linked to the underworld in various jails in the state like Taloja (Navi Mumbai),Yerwada (Pune),Thane,Nagpur and Nashik.

Dutt will have to serve 42 months more in jail as the SC has upheld his conviction in the case.
