The country’s political system is being influenced by “money and mafia” elements, senior Congress leader Karan Singh said and asked youth to play a role in bringing about change in the state of affairs.

Making an appeal to the youth on the eve of his 78th birthday,Singh, who is also a member of the Rajya Sabha, also said the current political system will get changed only when people determine to elect those who can truly serve the country and not those who enter politics to serve their needs.

“It is youth of this country who can truly change the state of affairs once they resolve to do so,” Singh said, addressing his 78th birthday celebrations at Thakurdwara Shiv Mandir in East Delhi.

Mahatma Gandhi suggested three kinds of revolutions – social, political and economic – but we are yet to achieve these goals,” he said.

Local Congress leaders and others were also present when he cut a cake to celebrate the occasion.
