Former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi came out in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, saying he his “taking everybody along”.
Speaking at a a programme organised by the Nagpur Union of Working Journalists, he said, “It is true that different people are talking of different possibilities like voting rights of Muslims being taken away, scrapping of Article 370, implementation of a common civil code and building of a Ram temple. But, Modi’s recent statements and position has shown clear departure (fluctuation) which is reassuring.”
When asked if he considers Modi to be secular, he said, “What is secularism? It means taking everybody along. Modi is talking of development of all states which means he is taking everyone along. He has promised an unprecedented over Rs 1 lakh crore special package for Bihar.”
Asked why Modi did not come to his rescue during the confidence vote, he said: “BJP did extend support but on the last day… We had sought no support from them so we have no complaint.”
