Kaushik Bora, an executive director at the Digboi refinery of the Indian Oil Corporation, who had gone missing on Sunday, was found by the police inside the Upper Dihing reserve forest on Monday.

Bora was located about two km into the forest from the spot where his car was found on the Digboi-Pengeri-Bordumsa road on Sunday, Tinsukia SP Akhilesh Kumar Singh said. “Bora was lying in an unconscious state inside the forest, but we have not found any link to any abduction as suspected earlier,” Singh said.

The SP said Bora was admitted to the Digboi Refinery hospital after being rescued during a search operation, which lasted nearly 20 hours. His mobile phone was missing. “He was bitten by leeches and insects,” the SP said.

Bora, the SP said, had reportedly been suffered from depression for the past few weeks and had also undergone a checkup recently. The officer, who had left his residence at around on Sunday, was reported missing at around 4 pm.
