Meerut: Delhi boy shot dead by ‘girlfriend’s brother’

Father of the deceased alleged that police did not take timely action despite lodging of the FIR.

A class XII student from Delhi was allegedly shot dead by the brother of a girl with whom he was reportedly involved in a romantic relationship, in Khiwai village under Saroorpur police station here Monday night.

Manish Sharma, a resident of Sangam Vihar in New Delhi, had come to live with his relatives in the village a few days back.

The boy had been missing for the past three days and an FIR had been lodged by his relatives against two persons of the village, including the brother of the girl. His mutilated body was recovered from forests near the village by locals and was identified by his relatives.

Hundreds of villagers protested against partisan role of the police in this connection.

Superintendent of Police (rural) M M Baig ordered an inquiry against the SHO of the Saroorpur police station. “Action will be taken against policemen if they are found guilty,” said the SP said.

Satish Sharma, father of the deceased, alleged that police did not take timely action despite lodging of the FIR.
