Class XI students of Nowrosjee Wadia College will have to reappear for their Mathematics paper on April 6 after the paper was found to be “leaked” on Monday.

According to students, mathematics papers (I and II) of 40 marks each were being sold for Rs 150 at the parking lot just a couple of hours before the exam.

The “leak” was apparently exposed by students who came to know about papers being sold in the college on Monday morning.

“We received an SMS in the morning, saying the papers were being sold outside the college and we should collect them as soon as possible. Many students bought the papers and appeared for the exam later. Later,we took the issue to a few senior students who protested in the college today,” said a student. The college found out that the paper was leaked from the place where the question papers are printed.

Amir Sheikh,a third year student of Computer Science who was part of the protest, said,“We came to know about the leak yesterday evening. Today,we protested in the college and got it in writing from the secretary of the education society that the papers will now be printed in our college and all the other question papers will be changed as well, just to be on the safer side. Also, the vendor from whose shop the papers were printed will be asked to leave.”

While confirming that a retest will be held, vice principal K S Venkataraghavan said it was not a paper leak. “Only a few questions on the ‘leaked paper’ tallied with questions in the original paper. We have decided to change the questions yesterday itself and will conduct a re-examination.”
