A day after pre-poll violence in Adampur village in Bathinda left one PPP leader dead and three others injured,Revenue Minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia termed PPP president Manpreet Singh Badal a Congress agent.

“We had predicted well in advance and now there is evidence that Sanjha Morcha and Congress are contesting elections on a joint front… This alliance will not work and the results will give a humiliating defeat to the opponents,” Majithia said while addressing rallies for the May 19 zila parishad and block samiti polls. He also warned the masses not to vote for this front.

Sanjha Morcha is contesting nearly every seat in alliance with Congress in most parts of Punjab, especially in Malwa, where Manpreet’s pictures can be seen displayed along with state Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa,UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and others.

Denying Congress and PPP’s allegations that SAD was involved in Thursday’s violence, the minister said: “We have expelled from the party those found involved in violence cases (read ASI murder in Amritsar and beating of AIG in Ludhiana). So,why will our party support any violent elements? This is just a way to defame our party. “

“Personal enmity or a gang war is being given a political colour. Our party has nothing to do with poll violence. Law will take its own course and the truth will be revealed soon,” said Majithia.

He was seen explaining the party’s stand in almost every rally that he addressed in Boha and Joga in Mansa and Kot Shamira and Goniana in Bathinda.

Reacting to Congress’ demand for President’s Rule in Punjab,Majithia said: “A caretaker government is needed more at the Centre. Punjab is a peaceful state.”
