A 30-year-old man was arrested from Haryanas Gurgaon on Wednesday after his wife and two stepdaughters approached the Delhi Police alleging that he had raped the two minor girls over the past few months.
Police said the man married girls mother seven years ago and they had been living together in his Sector-10,Gurgaon,house since then. The girls are 14 and seven years old.
ACP (Headquarters) and nodal officer for crimes against women Poonam Dalal said: Three months ago,the stepfather started to make sexual advances towards the girl and also molested them. The teenager was raped for the first time three months ago and again around a month ago. The younger girl was also raped about a month ago.
Police said the man raped both the girls at home. A medical examination of the two girls, conducted at DDU Hospital in Delhi, confirmed rape.
According to police, the elder child confided in her aunt over the phone and the aunt then informed the girls mother. The seven-year-old told her mother about the sexual abuse. Their mother brought her daughter to stay with the aunt in Delhi and when the man asked his elder stepdaughter to return home, they filed a complaint at a West Delhi police station,Dalal said.
The mother told police that her husband used to beat her up often and assaulted her again on Tuesday when she confronted him about the sexual abuse of her daughters. Police said the man also threatened her against informing anyone about the rape.
The Delhi Police filed a zero FIR based on the womans complaint since the case falls under the jurisdiction of Gurgaon police.
Later,Gurgaon Sector-10 police filed an FIR under the Criminal Amendment Act and POSCO and arrested the stepfather. He was produced in court that sent him to 14-day judicial custody. The man, police said, did not have a permanent job. He worked as mason or a grocery vendor.
