A passport belonging to a man who claimed he was to fly to Dubai Wednesday is reportedly among the consignments seized in a joint raid by NIA and I-T department Monday. The owner of the passport tried to get it back Tuesday but in vain.

Around 7.30 pm Tuesday, three men approached the security guard at Income Tax headquarters in Scindia House,Ballard Estate. While two of them said they were from Mumbai, the other claimed to have travelled from Gujarat to claim his passport, which he said was part of one of the consignments.

The duo claiming to be from Mumbai told the security guard,“Our friend has come from Gujarat. He was granted visa after an interview in Mumbai during a previous visit, after which we had mailed his passport through Rakesh Jhaganlal, who runs his service in south Mumbai.”

One of them went on to add,“Our friend is due to fly to Dubai Wednesday morning. We need that passport now.”
