Man booked for raping teenaged daughter

A man has been booked for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter for more than seven years in the Gurukul area of the district,adding to the string of crimes against women in Haryana.

A man has been booked for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter for more than seven years in the Gurukul area of the district,adding to the string of crimes against women in Haryana. A case has been registered against the man by the mother of the victim’s friend,who found out about the incident,police said. The girl reportedly told her friend’s mother that her father,who lived with her and his wife in a room of a factory,had been raping her repeatedly for the past seven years. Efforts are on to trace the accused.

Punjab issued notice on PIL by ex-servicemen

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court issued notices to the Punjab government on Tuesday on a public interest litigation filed by 48 ex-servicemen. The petitioners sought directions to the government to include the ex-servicemen in the amended notification,whereby the Punjab recruitment of ex-servicemen Rules,1982 was amended to allow the benefit of counting the military service rendered in Armed Forces for advance increments,pension and gratuity in the Civil Employment only to the short service commissioned officers.

Sarabjit case reopen petition withdrawn

Amritsar: Awais Sheikh,the Pakistani counsel of Indian prisoner lodged in a jail in Pakistan for over two decades Sarabjit Singh,said that the petition submitted to the Supreme Court to reopen Sarabjit’s case was withdrawn. Sarabjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur sent a letter to Sheikh on Monday advising him to withdraw the petition. The family is pinning hopes on Diwali,and praying to hear some good news about the release of Sarabjit. Kaur decided to withdraw the petition,as reopening could have caused a further delay.
