Man arrested for sending obscene SMSes to PhD scholar

Was allegedly making obscene calls and sending vulgar text messages to the woman for past two years.

A 26-year-old mobile repair shop owner near Turkman Gate,was arrested on Thursday for allegedly harassing a Delhi University PhD scholar.

According to police,the man,a graduate from Jamia University,was allegedly making obscene calls and sending vulgar text messages to the woman for the past two years.

“We arrested the psychic stalker who used to send obscene SMSes to the woman and her family for over two years,” DCP (North) I B Rani said.

He was taken into custody following the woman’s complaint on June 7.

She had alleged that an anonymous person who was sending her objectionable messages from different mobile phones.

“The woman told us that her family even tried shifting houses to get rid of the caller. During investigation,we came to know that he was frequently changed phone numbers,but the location remained the same. We managed to trace traced him to Turkman Gate in Central Delhi,” Rani said.

The man,police said,used to call the woman’s brother as well and threaten him.

Police claimed that he started harassing the woman after she spurned his advances in 2010.
