Madhya Pradesh Cong MPs Seek PM’s Help for Farmers

The Centre has authorized the state of Madhya Pradesh to undertake relief measures from the State Disaster Relief Fund

A delegation of Madhya Pradesh Congress MPs today met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to seek assistance for damage to crops in Madhya Pradesh.
State Congress chief Arun Yadav, who led the delegation, said in a press release that the state government has not sent to the Centre even a memorandum as yet in the laid down format as required giving an assessment of the damage.
“In anticipation of the Memorandum, the Centre has already constituted an inter-ministerial central team which is ready to go the state.  The Centre has also authorized the state to undertake relief measures from the State Disaster Relief Fund till such time as the state is able to submit its Memorandum,” Yadav said.
He said the central government has also written to the State Chief Secretary asking that the necessary Memorandum be submitted.
The Congress delegation included Leader of the Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Satyadev Katare, Union Ministers Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, party MPs Meenaxi Natarajan, Gajendra Singh Rajukhedi, Vijaylaxmi Sadho MLA Jaivardhan Singh and Madhu Bhagat.
