RJD chief Lalu Prasad, who is all set to enter an electoral alliance with JD(U), has demanded 60 per cent reservation for backwards, fakirs and Muslims in awarding government contracts. This is taken as a deft ploy by the RJD chief in a bid to cater to broad constituencies of both parties before upcoming elections to 11 Assembly seats.

Lalu, at a party training camp in Vaishali Sunday, said: “There must be reservation for OBC, Dalits and Muslims in government contracts as their representation is very less.” JD(U) may positively react to Lalu’s suggestion in a bid to consolidate their combined vote bank to “corner” BJP.

Valuables stolen from Giriraj Singh’s house

PATNA: Jewellery and valuables were stolen from Nawada BJP MP Giriraj Singh’s house at Boring Road in Patna on Monday morning. Singh has not specified the value of stolen goods yet.

The incident comes close on the heels of the thefts at the houses of former MP Sadhu Yadav and JD(U) MLA Ravindra Rai. Police said the incident took place at Boring Road residence of Singh where some strangers had come. But as visitors are common at the MP’s house, no one suspected them as thieves. Patna SSP Manu Maharaj visited the spot.
