The Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Arjan Kumar Sikri will take oath as a Supreme Court Judge on Friday.
His orders of elevation were received by the High Court on Wednesday.
As per the procedure,a medical examination,a formality,of Justice Sikri was done on Monday.
The Indian Express was the first to report,last month,that Justice Sikris name was cleared for elevation by the Apex Court.
Till his successor takes over,Justice Jasbir Singh will remain as the acting Chief Justice. Sources say that Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul,first puisne Judge of Delhi High Court is likely to be the new Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
