The Juhi Prasad murder case has been transferred from the magistrate court to sessions court,Pune, and will be heard by Principal District and Sessions judge Anant Badar. The court also gave Anushree Kundra, the main accused, time till April 23 to get a lawyer.
On the first date of the case on Monday,Kundra was produced before the court and was asked if she had engaged a lawyer. Kundra requested time for a week and the court granted her time till April 23 to engage a lawyer.
Meanwhile, the police failed to submit an investigation report of Nimesh Sinhas role (Juhis fiance) as per the directions of judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) J A Kotnis. On April 9,Kotnis had directed the Pune police to investigate the role of Nimesh, who has been listed a witness in the chargesheet against Kundra. According to the chargesheet,Kundra had allegedly murdered Juhi by setting her on fire. While Juhi was Nimeshs fiancee,Kundra and Nimesh allegedly had an affair.
Juhis father Abhay,a Delhi-based lawyer, had filed an application on January 25 through his lawyer T D Sathe seeking the courts directives to police to carry out proper investigation into the incident. His application said,On the day of the offence, accused Anushree,Nimesh and deceased Juhi were present. There is a possibility of involvement of Nimesh in the offence. The magistrate has directed the police to investigate Nimeshs role and submit the report on April 16,which the police did not file and sought extension of date.
Kundra had allegedly set on fire Nimesh and his fiancée Juhi at an apartment in Wanawadi on October 13. Kundra too has moved an application in the court demanding Nimesh to be arrested and made accused in the case. That application is also pending.
