J&K: Youth dies during Army recruitment test

After making the first round of the stadium ground, he fell unconscious.

A LOCAL youth died during physical test for recruitment to Territorial Army at Doda on Monday morning.

Identifying deceased as Yogesh Singh, 26, of Gaadi village in Bhagwa area of Doda district, sources said that he was among thousands of local youth who had turned up at the sports stadium in Doda town for recruitment in the Army. After completing the first lap of the stadium ground, he fell unconscious.

He was immediately taken to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. His body was later handed over to his family members after postmortem.

Meanwhile, an Udhampur based defense ministry spokesman Colonel S D Goswami said that a large number of aspirants had turned up at recruitment rallies for TA (Engineer regiment) being held at Surankote, Doda and Reasi in Jammu region, besides Anantnag, Baramulla and Kupwara in Kashmir Valley.

Meanwhile, five aspiring candidates got injured at Reasi following stone pelting by those who were rejected by the selectors.
