A day after JD(U) announced its support to AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s candidature at Varanasi against Narendra Modi, the party Saturday said no party leader would go to Varanasi to support the AAP leader. Sources said party national president Sharad Yadav and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar have differed on lending support to Kejriwal.
Sharad Yadav and JD(U) national spokesperson K C Tyagi were scheduled to visit Varanasi on May 5 to campaign for Kejriwal.
JD(U) state president Bashistha Narayan Singh said: “Bihar battle is more important than Varanasi. We need our leaders here till the last phase of election.” Singh reportedly issued the statement on behalf of Nitish.
On Friday, Yadav had launched veiled attack on Nitish when he said, “I supported both Lalu and Nitish in becoming CM but neither of them could rise above caste.”
