BJP MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat spoke about govt-run BSNL’s poor services

How has been your experience of the wi-fi facility in Parliament?
It is dysfunctional. Broadband ka to Bhagwan hi maalik hai.

Did you personally take up the matter with anyone?
Yes. I met the current Secretary-General as well his predecessor to apprise them of the problem. The problem remained unaddressed.

Why did you choose to flag the wi-fi problems faced by the MPs?
My question was about the BSNL, but when I found that members had underlined the same points which I had planned to speak on, I decided to focus on something different.

How do you view the working of the BSNL?
The BSNL was earning a profit of Rs 10,000 crore in 2006. It is now suffering a loss of Rs 6,000 crore a year. Is there an attempt to kill the BSNL; pave the way for its privatisation?

Your question was applauded by the Opposition. Will it be construed as an anti-party act?
I have articulated a genuine grouse of members. Why would the party leadership take an adverse view?

It is a fact that government organisations like BSNL and other many more do not function efficiently making losses. Government should look into the matters very seriously and remove the bottle necks to improve their performence. Decison making process, responsibility fixing systems, performence evaluation systems it seems are not in place. Highly qualified and well paid staff should be a et for any organisation but it works in opposit way for government organisations. Let BJP govt. look into it and do some thing to improve its performences. B P Singh Hyderabad

Sir if honourable minister is asking for poor service in delhi parliament as in last govt also kapil sibbal,i would like to inform you that first you should update your knowledge about BSNL as BSNL is not a service provider in Broadband in Delhi. it is MTNL & plz ask your govt ministers and also opposition to come out for support BSNL as it is their poor politices due to which BSNL is having losses badlly. some point are as below: 1) No approval in time for equipment purchase for 2G from 2006 due to vasted interest from Pvt operator 2)Pvt operator allowed to use cheap and affordable chinease vendor equipment but BSNL not,Why 3) Pvt operators allowed to choose spectrum for 3G for their choice circle but BSNL bounded to purchase it in all circle except delhi & mumbai which cost more than 11000 crore while pvt operator choose 5-10 circle for less than 6000 crore each even when they get mumbai and delhi, both above are most revenue generation circle. After it pvt operator cheated govt and did roaming agreement for new cxn on other operator licence which is totally illegal & cost about 60000 crore loss to govt. 4) BSNL is bound by govt to provide rural services but not being paid for their losses from govt. fact is that BSNL losses from rural operations are more than 10000 crore. 5) No status for navaratna, so decision making in favor of company is tough(only up to 500 crore). please change old dated decision making cut off up to 1500 crore for mini ratna or navratna 6) no refund for wimax licence of surrender fee of 6000 crore & other lot like corrupt Management ITS from DOT working in favor of Pvt operator so please dont blame BSNL..... improve ur politics
