Inter-state gang hiding in sarpanch’s house arrested

Bathinda police has nabbed four members of an inter-state gang believed to be involved in various cases of dacoity,murder,supari killing,robberies,vehicle snatching (luxury cars mainly) and possession of illegal weapons and recovered eight firearms from them.

Bathinda police has nabbed four members of an inter-state gang believed to be involved in various cases of dacoity,murder,supari killing,robberies,vehicle snatching (luxury cars mainly) and possession of illegal weapons and recovered eight firearms from them.

All of them were hiding in the house of SAD sarpanch Kirpal Kaur. Her husband – Harjinder Singh Bittu is also believed to be a member of this gang and had a criminal background.

He had been sentenced for 15 years and was presently out on bail,the police said. The search operation was conducted in village Jagha Ram Tirath,in Talwandi Sabo. The other arrested persons are: Jagsir Singh Seera,Gurpreet Singh and Ranjodh Singh Jodha.

Ravcharn Singh Brar,SSP Bathinda said at 4:30 on Thursday morning,they started a search operation following a tip off. Various teams were constituted keeping in mind the topography and crop sown in the fields. The force was mobilised under the direct command of SSP.

He said the operation lasted for about five and a half hours. The gangsters used the women and children inside the house as a human shield.
