Inspection drive at state-run hospitals from next week

Laxity would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty.

The Punjab government has decided to begin inspection of all state-run hospitals from next week,a senior health officer said here on Tuesday. Vini Mahajan,Principal Secretary,Health & Family Welfare,issued directions regarding this and said that seven days’ time has been given to all civil surgeons and senior medical officers to prepare for the drive. She said,Health and Family welfare Minister Surjit Kumar Jayani and senior officials of the health department would start visiting the hospitals from next week.

Mahajan said that funds have been made available to SMOs for making arrangements regarding special cleanliness drive in the government hospitals of the state. In the seven days,the have to ensure proper cleanliness of premises,wards and other areas as well greenery outside hospitals.

Mahajan has also directed the civil surgeons and SMOs to ensure timely attendance of doctors and supporting staff in the hospitals. Laxity would not be tolerated and strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty. She said that patients should be treated politely by the doctors and the staff. The doctors should also prescribe drugs made available free at the stores of government hospitals.
