In Pakistan, Sikh girl among toppers in Class X exam

A sikh girl, Manbir Kaur, 15, daughter of the head priest of Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib, is among the toppers of the Class X matriculation exam in Pakistan.

A sikh girl, Manbir Kaur, 15, daughter of the head priest of Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib, is among the toppers of the Class X matriculation exam in Pakistan.

She obtained 1035 marks out of 1100.

According to the results declared by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Lahore, the top two positions were bagged by girls — Shafaq Zahid (1080/1100 marks) and Aleena Mohsin (1079/1100 marks).

“She has enrolled for pre-medical as she wants to become a doctor,” said Manbir’s father, Prem Singh.

He added that his daughter was the “topper among the Sikh community and among all the minority community students who appeared in the exams”.

“This is a moment of pride for the Sikh community and the minorities in Pakistan,” he said.
