Five police officers, who reportedly helped Muhammad Nisham, accused of murdering security guard K Chandrabose with his luxury Hummer, in meeting his family members at a luxury hotel in Thrissur, were suspended from service.
Since Nisham is in a detention period, helping him meet his family members without the court’s orders is a violation.
The incident happened on Tuesday when Nisham, who was kept at Kannur Central Jail, was taken to Thrissur for the court hearing. However, after the court posted the time of hearing to 2 pm, the police officers reportedly allowed Nisham to dine with his family members at a luxury hotel.
Nisham faces murder charges for allegedly ramming his SUV into Chandrabose, a security guard at the gated residential complex, after the latter was reportedly late in opening the gate. The incident sparked widespread outrage across the state. Nisham, a wealthy businessman, has faced various criminal cases in the past, but he was always able to wriggle out of them due to his influence among police officers and politicians alike. In April, a chargesheet against Nisham was submitted in a first class magistrate court in Kunnamkulam.
