The NDA government is looking into a set of names, including that of a HRD Ministry official, for appointing the new CBSE chairperson. The names have been recommended by the search-cum-selection committee. Those who have been recommended are IAS officers Satbir Silas Bedi, joint secretary in HRD Ministry, Maninder Kaur Dwivedi, a 1995 batch officer who is former director in the school education department of the ministry, and M K Hada, former advisor to the AICTE. Sources said Bedi, a 1986-batch IAS officer, could be the frontrunner. Officials, however, said a final call is yet to be taken.
