Hooda to launch food scheme today

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will launch the dal roti scheme at a rally in Panipat on Tuesday. The scheme will also be launched in all the districts by the ministers in-charge of the district public relations committees. Rajya Sabha MP Birender Singh had earlier asked Hooda to launch the scheme from his rally in Jind on the same day.

Panchayats to elect chiefs by August 23

CHANDIGARH: Elected members of zila parishads and panchayat samitis will elect chairmen and vice-chairmen of their respective bodies by August 23,Punjab Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra said on Monday. The department has instructed all deputy commissioners to ensure the process is conducted in their presence or before officers not below the rank of assistant commissioner.

Act on guidelines: Punjab CEO to officers

CHANDIGARH: With Parliament elections looming,Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Raminder Singh has directed all additional district electoral officers and other officers concerned to ensure implementation of the guidelines issued by the Chief Election Commission on the Systematic Voters’ Education Electoral Participating and the revision of voters’ list as per the cut-off date of 1-1-2014.

NSCA to oppose LS seat de-reservation

Chandigarh: The National Scheduled Castes Alliance has decided to oppose the proposed move to de-reserve the Fatehgarh Sahib Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab,saying the move is against the Scheduled Castes of the state.
