The rural wing of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) busted a gang of highway robbers and nabbed four men wanted for many crimes. Four weapons and live cartridges were also seized from them. Angrej Singh,chief of CIA,said they had secret information about four wanted criminals roaming near Haripur village. A police naka was set up and the four arrested. Those arrested have been identified as Akul Kumar of Amritsar,Ravinder Singh of village Lohgarh,Kulpreet Singh of Nouli village in Jalandhar and Baldev Singh of Wadala village.

Angrej Singh disclosed that police also recovered four pistols including two 7.65 bore with five live cartridges and two 315 bore with four live cartridges. One Zen car(DL 2CZ 2587) was also seized from the accused. Angrej Singh said all accused have a criminal past and were wanted for crimes including attempt to murder,NDPS Act,at various police stations across the state.

They are also accused of robbing several luxury vehicles and two-wheelers at gun point from the highway in the recent past.

Heroin worth Rs 2 cr seized

CIA staff also nabbed two drug peddlers with 410 gram heroin. During patrolling near Rapur village ASI Harjinder Singh nabbed Satwant of Beas with 210 gram heroin while Sub Inspector Jarnail Singh nabbed Shamsher Singh of Amritsar from Sanghwal village with 200 gram heroin.
