The Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust Saturday said the Hemkund Sahib gurdwara in Uttarakhand was not damaged. The main gurdwara building is intact and no loss has been caused to the sanctum sanctorum, where the Birs is installed, trust vice chairman Narinderjit Singh Bindra said. He said that though water level in the lake adjoining the shrine had increased after the glacier uphill came down, the staff at the gurdwara had erected embankments of sand bags to keep the water out. He also said that all pilgrims stranded at the shrine would be evacuated by Sunday.
