The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Punjab government and the Punjab State Election Commission (PSEC) in a PIL seeking directions to create an official website of PSEC,which will display the affidavits of candidates for forthcoming panchayat, zila parishad and Bathinda municipal corporation elections.

The PIL filed jointly by Jaskirat Singh (Ludhiana) and Parvinder Singh Kittna (Nawanshahr) stated they were working for Punjab Elections Watch — an organisation, which has been disseminating information regarding criminal past and antecedents of candidates in Lok Sabha polls.

They added that Punjab State Election Commission has so far not created its website and as a result, vital information, including affidavits of candidates, cannot be notified by it effectively.
