Haryana Police sets up special police squads to curb cow smuggling

To curb instances of cow smuggling,the Haryana Police has constituted special police squads in every district of the state.

To curb instances of cow smuggling,the Haryana Police has constituted special police squads in every district of the state.

“Each squad will be headed by a district inspector and comprise one sub-Inspector,one assistant sub-inspector,two head constables and 12 constables. The squad will exclusively work for stopping the activities of cow smugglers,” a police spokesperson said,adding that two vehicles will be provided to each squad.

As some instances of firing by cow smugglers have been reported in the past,the squad members will be trained to tackle such eventuality. “They will be given adequate communication equipment. The names and cellphone numbers of the squad in-charge will also be well publicised. The public must be made aware to report incidents of cow smuggling by calling 100 or to the district Inspector in charge,” the spokesperson added.

The squads will report directly to the SP,DCP or the commissioner of police of the concerned district.
