The Haryana government plans to promote yoga and ayurveda in a big way, and has appointed yoga guru Ramdev as its brand ambassador.
A delegation led by Health Minister Anil Vij met Ramdev at Maharishi Patanjali Yogpeeth Ashram, Haridwar, today. Vij said the government urged Ramdev to be its brand ambassador, to which he agreed.
The minister said that training of yoga would be provided in schools so that it reaches every doorstep. The government plans to impart yoga training to physical education teachers at Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar. Anganwadi workers will also be trained so they can teach yoga to small children.
Vij said the guidance of Acharya Bal Krishan will also be sought. Gym and yogshalas will be set up in almost all villages in Haryana and trainers would be engaged for children, youth and senior citizens.
Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra, will be upgraded to a university to promote ayurvedic education.
Refresher courses will be organized for 550 doctors working in the AYUSH Department at Patanjali Yogpeeth.
