A delegation of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM), led by general secretary Roshan Giri, held a meeting Saturday with Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and Union Defence Minister A K Antony, demanding the central government form a committee to study the viability of Gorkhaland.
“We met the home minister today and requested him to form a committee to study the viability of Gorkhaland state as the centre has done in the case of Bodoland,” said Roshan Giri. “He told us the state government’s consent is also needed to form such a committee. He assured us that he himself would talk to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.” added Giri.
