The skiing resort of Gulmarg received fresh snowfall today as rains lashed parts of Kashmir valley since early morning.
Gulmarg resort,where the night temperature had remained four degrees below freezing point,recorded five inches of snow and 8.6 millimetres of rainfall,a MeT official said.
Srinagar,the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir,registered seven millimetres of rain that started early this morning,the official said.
South Kashmir’s Pahalgam tourist resort recorded four millimetres rainfall,he said,adding that North Kashmir’s frontier Kupwara town saw 11 millimetres of rain.
The Met department has forecast,”scattered to fairly widespread” rain and snowfall over the next 24 hours in Kashmir valley.
