Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani on Friday showed his vigour that he is fit to lead the country by trying a hand at ‘dumbbells’ and ‘weights’ at the new gymnasium developed by the civic body in Vadaj area.

The 81-year-old BJP leader inaugurated the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s complex with a swimming pool and a gymnasium.

He picked up two one kg dumbbells and lifted them above his shoulders, both his hands up in the air.

Advani also flexed his muscles with some shoulder crunches at the gymnasium built in his Gandhinagar constituency at the cost of Rs 3.58 crore.

He also took a tour of the entire complex which included the swimming pool area, the dressing and shower room.

The BJP leader said that he was happy that such complex has been developed by the AMC,and hoped that it will benefit the people of nearby areas.

Advani said that more such facilities are needed for the youths in the state, which will ultimately help create awareness for good health.

Advani said he was disappointed that due to delimitation some of his favourite assembly segments have been excluded from his constituency and Sarkhej has been segregated into three divisions.

“With the delimitation rules coming into effect some new areas like Sanand and Kalol have been added to my constituency. But I am disappointed that the Ellibridge area has been excluded,” Advani said.

The BJP leader, however, said he was happy that Sanand, where Tata would be setting up their Nano Car Project, has been included in his constituency.

Praising the development works done in Gujarat,Advani said that it is the most discussed state in the country and he feels proud that he is a representative of the state.
