V K Singh,a former RAW officer charged with disclosing classified information on the working of the intelligence agency in his book,is expected to appear before a Delhi court on Wednesday.
After taking cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the CBI,Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaveri Baweja had on January 31 issued a summons against the retired Major General and publisher Vivek Garg. Singh’s book ‘India’s External Intelligence: Secrets of RAW’ was printed and published by Garg’s Manas Publications.
Accusing Singh of making public “secret” and “top secret” information, projects, locations of installations and postings of RAW officials, the CBI had registered a case against him under the Official Secrets Act in September 2007. Enlisting as many 12 offending paragraphs that, according to the CBI,had compromised national security,a chargesheet was subsequently filed in April last.
