DAYS after the head of the AIIMS forensic medicine department claimed he faced pressure to manipulate the autopsy report of Sunanda Puskhar, former health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Saturday broke his silence and rubbished the allegations.

Azad questioned  Dr Sudhir Gupta’s credibility and said he can “shoot his mouth off anytime against anybody”.
While Sunanda’s husband Shashi Tharoor has refrained from commenting on Gupta’s claims demanding instead for a speedy conclusion of the inquiry to bring it to a definitive conclusion, Azad denied pressuring Gupta. “Can I even think of such a stupid thing? Media knows me, entire country knows what kind of person Ghulam Nabi Azad is… I can’t even think of doing such a criminal thing,” Azad said.

He cited reports about the adverse comments made against Gupta by his seniors in the past to question his credibility.

Gupta headed a three-member team that conducted the autopsy on Sunanda, who died in mysterious circumstances in a Delhi hotel in January.
