The CPI(M) today dismissed Governor M K Narayanan’s criticism that the party apologise for the ‘attack’ on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Finance Minister Amit Mitra, while demanding that attacks on its offices allegedly by the Trinamool Congress should stop.

“I don’t know why he is saying that the incident is premeditated. He has been a seasoned IPS officer,” CPI(M)

state secretary,Biman Bose, who is the Left Front chairman,

told reporters here.

Bose also claimed that the Governor was unaware of the

functioning of the CPI(M) politburo.

“He is not aware of the politburo that’s why he is saying such things,” he said, adding that the Left Front has condemned the attack on Finance minister Amit Mitra.

Narayanan earlier said that the ‘attack’ on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Finance minister Amit Mitra in Delhi was ‘unprecedented’ and ‘a blot on India’s cherished democratic values’.

He said the incident deserved to be condemned in the strongest terms and deserved a public apology from the CPI-M politburo.

Bose also claimed that nearly 1000 Left Front offices were destroyed since yesterday evening.

“We urge the Trinamool Congress to stop these attacks

immediately,” Bose said.
