Cong-SP alliance will take place: Mulayam

Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav expressed confidence of arriving at an electoral alliance with Congress for Lok Sabha polls.

A day after his meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi over the seat-sharing arrangement in Uttar Pradesh,Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday expressed confidence of arriving at an electoral alliance with the party for the Lok Sabha polls.

“The alliance(SP-Congress) shall happen. We are in touch with the Congress,specially with Sonia Gandhi. I had a meeting with her yesterday,” Mulayam Singh told reporters in New Delhi on Monday.

Declining to reveal any further detail on the talks with Congress,Singh said he was ready to meet Congress leaders anytime to arrive at a seat sharing formula.

“I shall meet them (Congress) whenever required. We are trying our best that the alliance should happen,” he said.

When asked if SP was ready to leave 25 seats for Congress as per the national party’s demand,he said,”You see we have already declared 54 to 55 of our seats. Further details I cannot divulge to you.”
